In part 3 of our Grip strength series Coach Tarek

In part 3 of our Grip strength series Coach Tarek gives you a deeper look into open hand and closed hand grip, and how each grip strategy can change the way the body creates tension, stability and control.

Using a medicine ball, power bag and kettlebell, he shows how the grip can either stay passive or become part of the movement.

An open grip can still be active when the client clamps, presses and connects into the tool. A closed grip can be useful when the task calls for more tension, irradiation and control.

For coaches, the question is not just “are they holding it?”

It is whether the grip is helping the body organise around the load.
