Kettlebell Swing Teaching Tips: Swinging Too Slow

This error can be the result of:

  • ‘Muscling the KB up’ using the shoulders like a Front Raise instead of using the power of the hip hinge.
  • Trying to stop the momentum of the swing instead of letting the arc travel smoothly.

By pushing the Kettlebell down as it reaches the top it speeds up the swing, encouraging the hinge pattern and preventing the shoulders from dominating the movement.

*Safety Tip: Stand to the side of your client, always communicate before beginning, and start off with a light push before building more intensity.
